Travel Guide to Switzerland For an Enjoyable Stay

Switzerland is an economic powerhouse which is snuggled amongst the Alps. If you want to enjoy a phenomenal experience, Switzerland is the right place for you. The association of tranquillity and power is attractively demonstrated in its cities, where the importance and worldwide status of Zurich are encountered by its rolling hills and fairy tale majesty.

Relax in alpine-style resorts and cabins or enjoy skydiving and skiing in the beautiful mountains. Or you could simply binge on the formations of master chocolatiers. Either of the ways, you can be pretty sure that Switzerland has something great in store for you. As for other advantages, well, the country is a big plus!

Safety: Widely popular as one of the safest countries in this world, the geographical location of Switzerland does not put it at danger of terror and the high standard of living indicates low crime rate and high equality. Risk is only associated with water sports, but safety on the slopes will help avoid fatality and injury which is why attaining travel insurance is very important.

Visa: While visiting Switzerland, always carry your passport because it’s a legal requirement to have a photo ID; citizens of Switzerland carry national cards with them. Being that they are not an important part of the EU, Switzerland’s own currency is the Swiss Franc.

Transportation: While travelling around Switzerland, among the other mode of transport, the train is the best option.

Language: Switzerland is an interesting mix of languages, mainly German, Italian, and French with few regional dialects like Romansh. It is also one of the few countries to still utilize Latin in the form of a functional language in certain parts. In most of the parts, people speak English and in most ski resorts, but this is not a guarantee and Swiss will be appreciative of any kind of effort you can make in German or French.

When is the best time to visit Switzerland?

Like any other place, you can visit Switzerland at any point of time in a year and enjoy a fantastic time. However, there is always a “best” time to visit the place so, it’s better to check the seasons before going. It mainly depends on the activities that you have planned to do while in Switzerland. If you prefer snowboard and ski, it will be better to visit when the snow is at its fullest.

Activities in Switzerland can be broken down into three seasons:

Low season, i.e. from October to March: During the first half of this season, mountain resorts are closed, and restaurants remain open for few days for a shorter duration. Expect the prices to be nearly 50% lesser than the high season.

Mid-season, i.e. April, June, and September: Warmer temperatures signify that the resorts are opened for a longer time and you can still enjoy your stay at a better price.

High season (July to Aug and Dec to April):  Everything remains open and busy, mainly during the month of August and July.

Things to pack while travelling to Switzerland

Travelling in Switzerland involves spending time in the mountains and enjoying a moderate temperature. So, make sure you keep lots of thin clothing that can be layered if you feel cold, but at the same time, you can wear them as it is when it’s hot.
