Top Activities for Adventure Lovers in Hong Kong

Don’t you think that Hong Kong is a paradise for people who love adventure? Keep reading and we will prove you wrong.

You would be forgiven for not associating with a wide array of exciting outdoor adventures. After all, it is more widely popular for its neon lights, apartment blocks, shopping centres, and neon lights. However, Hong Kong is a paradise for people who love adventure.

Simply a hop, skip and a jump from the city and you will get an incredible number of running routes, mountain biking, wakeboarding, and canyoning. Here are a few adventure activities that you must try when you are in Hong Kong.

  • Go hiking in Lantau Peak, the second-highest mountain of Hong Kong

You can spend 2 weeks in Hong Kong, go hiking every single day and still have not even made a single dent in plenty of trail running routes within nearness to Central. Big climbs, undulating coastal trails, thick forests-Hong Kong has everything.

As the second-highest summit in Hong Kong, hiking in Lantau Peak is not meant for faint-hearted, but the attractive views make them worthwhile. Starting off from an entertainment centre in Ngong Ping which is like the eateries at the theme park, you surely do not feel close to a quiet hiking trail. However, you can tick a few important sites off your Hong Kong sightseeing listing before you start- the popular Tian Tan (Big Buddha) is just a few steps away, whereas the Wisdom Path, the largest outdoor wooden carving in this world is also on the way.

  • Canyoning in the New Territories

A tour to the New Territories is a must-try for a visiting adventure junkie. Mountainous terrain, lush vegetation, and space signify that there is something a bit different. Ping Nam stream is snuggled in a country pear located near the Chinese border and winds its way up to a valley with large numbers of waterfalls and dive pools along the way offering the right escape from a hot day in Hong Kong. To reach the top of the stream, it takes about 2 hours. But, no worries, you will be entertained along the way as the guide shows you his much-loved jumps. You can have your lunch at the top of the stream and indulge in some sunbathing before the adventure starts.

  • Sunbathing, Swimming in Sha Kiu Tau

Taking a junk or a large cruise out for a day is very common for anyone living in Hong Kong and it is very easy to find out why. Simply 30 minutes on the board can take you to a sanctuary that is away from hustle and bustle of Central. You will be attracted to the incredible views of the skyline as you set off the pier before reaching many remote islands. Then, you can spend the entire day playing in the white sand beaches and swimming in the chilled sea. You will get to see a fully stocked bar on the board, but it is better to check in advance.

While in Hong Kong, make sure you try all these activities at least for once!
